The Sacramento (CA) Business Journal (7/20, Robertson, Subscription Publication) reported that in California, Gov. Jerry Brown (D) “has signed a measure into law that’s designed to protect…patients from the unlicensed practice of medicine in corporate medical spas and similar ventures, like laser hair-removal chains.”  The piece explained, “Popular medi-spas that provide a variety of non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as laser skin resurfacing, cellulite treatments and dermal fillers in surgery centers and doctors’ offices are the primary target of the bill.”

Don’t trust your skin to just anyone, and be weary of deals that seem to good to be true. Ask lots of questions when going to a new facility and educate yourself! If you really want a procedure, make sure you are educated on the risks, side effects and technology available to achieve the results you seek. Also, make sure the person you choose to complete the procedure is licensed, and preferably a doctor or Medical Aesthetician.
